Nutritional Gastroenterology: Matching New Treatments to New Disease Subtypes

Clinical research is evolving much faster than clinical practice and our knowledge is at risk of becoming outdated. Nutritional approaches for gastrointestinal disease have advanced significantly in only the last few years with new and more personalised management options. This important seminar reviews recent discoveries that can be used to help people otherwise not responding to more traditional nutritional management approaches. In addition, we will look at new research in the context of traditional options by identifying disease subtypes most likely to respond to a particular treatment.

Key topics covered include:
 Recent research on new dietary interventions
 Matching dietary interventions to disease subgroups
 Symptomatic management with functional foods and nutraceuticals
 An update on the pros and cons of gastrointestinal biomarkers and tests
 A pragmatic, evidence-based, personalised management model for functional gastrointestinal disorders

Gastrointestinal disorders covered include:
 Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
 Conditions that masquerade as IBS
 Diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, distention, pain
 Functional dyspepsia
 Dysbiosis, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)

All attendees will receive:
 2-hours of CPD approved education
 Lecture notes
 Supplementary research papers
 Dinner and drinks
 Free sample products
