13% of the Irish population is living with Chronic Pain, compared with the European average of 19%, according to Chronic Pain Ireland.
Although pain usually serves an adaptive role, it may have adverse effects on function and social and psychological well-being. It is always a personal experience, influenced to varying degrees by biological, psychological, and social factors.
