NTOI 2021 AGM & Conference

Once again this year the AGM & Conference shall be via online platforms.

We have 3 amazing speakers lined up along with some wonderful exhibition stands with some of your favourite brands. We also have some of your most used laboratories talking to us about what tests they have for us. So the bog question is are you going?

Our Guest Speakers are:

Dr. Felice Gersh, who is going to speak to us on, Women, Hearts, and Hormones: An Integrative Approach to Menopausal Cardiometabolic Health

Menopause is a universal event for all women, so why treat it? This presentation will cover the surprising link between the decline of fertility and the onset of cardiometabolic problems. The complex effects of estrogen on all organ systems, the health impact of ovarian senescence and hormonal decline, with a focus on the cardiometabolic system, will be discussed. An integrative approach, to enable the optimization of the cardiometabolic health of women going through the menopausal transition and throughout their postmenopausal years, will be presented.

Dr. Pádraic Dunne PhD, our own Irish speaker who shall discuss stress, specifically, Flourishing in the workplace and beyond – burnout prevention and management

Dr Pádraic Dunne (PhD) is an immunologist, practicing psychotherapist and meditation teacher, based at the new Centre for Positive Psychology and Health (CPPH), Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) University of Medicine and Health Sciences. As an RCSI Lecturer, Dr Dunne is interested in the development of Health and Wellbeing programmes for postgraduate healthcare professionals, corporate work forces, as well as for patients suffering with chronic disease and the general public.

Lara Briden shall speak to us about Navigating peri-menopause or second puberty.

The two to ten years before the final period can be a tricky time for women. In this presentation, experienced naturopathic doctor Lara Briden will outline the physiological changes of perimenopause including the shift to anovulatory cycles and insulin resistance. She’ll explain why perimenopause can be a tipping point for the long-term health of both the brain and the body, and provide treatment protocols for mood, night sweats, weight gain, and heavy periods. Finally, Lara will survey modern menopausal hormone therapy, and explain why body-identical hormones are both gentler and safer.
